PPF care – washing, sealing and protecting paint protection film

Carnauba wax sealing, pH-neutral washing and Keramiq⁹ long-term protection for glossy and matte films

PPF care – why your paint protection film needs regular care

Paint protection films (PPF) protect your paint from stone chips, scratches and UV damage – but the film itself also needs care. Without regular maintenance, PPF can yellow, stain or lose its self-healing properties.

Swissvax offers a dedicated PPF care line for glossy and matte films. All products are chemically compatible with common film types and formulated to clean, seal and protect – without compromising adhesion or clarity. The result: a film that stays invisible, self-healing and protective – for years, not just months.

PPF-safe washing: Conventional car shampoos can leave residue on the film surface or attack bonded edges over time. Car Bath is pH-neutral and free from aggressive solvents – safe for all types of PPF. For matte film use Car Bath Opaque to clean without unwanted gloss.

Carnauba wax sealing: The PPF Wax (40% Carnauba by volume) was developed specifically for wrapped vehicles. It seals the film surface, enhances water repellence and protects against UV yellowing and environmental influences – with a durability of 6–9 months. For matte PPF use Opaque Wax to preserve the satin finish.

The PPF Protection Set contains all coordinated products for the complete care of partially and fully wrapped vehicles – everything from a single source.

Can paint protection film be polished?

Yes – fine scratches, scuffs and light holograms on glossy PPF can be removed by hand with Cleaner Fluid Regular or Cleaner Fluid Medium, or by machine with CF Professional Regular. All Swissvax polishes are PPF-compatible and tested on film surfaces. Work with light pressure and a soft pad to avoid overheating the film.

Important for matte PPF: polishing is not recommended on matte PPF, as it would alter the satin finish. Instead, use Pre-Cleaner Opaque to remove old sealants and contamination without attacking the matte character.

Lotos Speed after waxing – additional protection

Lotos Speed can additionally be applied on top of the wax sealant. This makes the protective layer even more water-repellent and extends its durability.

Important: wait at least 3 hours after waxing before applying Lotos Speed, so the wax can first bond completely with the surface.

Keramiq⁹ – spray ceramic sealant for PPF

Keramiq⁹ is an easy-to-apply spray ceramic sealant with an infused water base, developed by Swissvax through the Aqua-Infused process. It creates extremely smooth and water-repellent surfaces on paint, glass, plastic and GRP, and offers protection for up to 12 months.

Keramiq⁹ extends the durability of surfaces treated with Swissvax waxes and is applied one day after waxing. Depending on the size of the vehicle, the application takes only 30–60 minutes – no masking, no hours of preparation. If needed, the sealant can be removed easily and without residue using Swissvax "Prep Fluid".

The 9 facts about Keramiq⁹:

  • Beading behaviour for up to 12 months
  • Safe for private users
  • Application time only 30–60 minutes
  • No masking and no days of preparation
  • Suitable for untreated and already sealed paint
  • Re-seal heavily stressed areas (bonnet, wings) at any time
  • Lower solvent content – no toxic fumes
  • Multi-material: paint, glass, plastic, rims, GRP
  • Easily and residue-free removable with Swissvax "Prep Fluid"

Up to 12 months of hydrophobic protection on top of the Carnauba wax layer – and quick sealant for everyday use

Opaque – for matte-wrapped and matte-painted vehicles

Keep matte surfaces matte – with the Swissvax Opaque range

Matte films and matte paints are more sensitive than glossy surfaces: dust, dirt and UV radiation break down the flat texture more quickly, and conventional care products with gloss enhancers cause irreversible shiny patches.

Swissvax Opaque products use natural Carnauba wax without fillers or gloss additives to build up a protective barrier that repels water and dirt while fully preserving the matte finish. The Opaque range comprises Car Bath Opaque, Pre-Cleaner Opaque and Opaque Wax – every product coordinated with each other.

Regular application of Opaque Wax every 2–3 months maintains the protection and makes future cleaning easier. For quick refreshing between washes, Quick Finish Opaque removes fingerprints and light soiling without water.

Accessories for a perfect result

The right cloth and the right applicator make a measurable difference on film surfaces. Swissvax microfibre towels are laser-cut to avoid scratching edges, and each type of cloth is designed for a specific step: washing, polishing, buffing or drying. All cloths are machine-washable and reusable.
